K Kids Selling Luminarias Through 14 - All Proceeds Used for Donations - 11/20/2017

Order forms for luminarias priced at $12/dozen will be at hand during the next four Tuesday Luncheon meetings.  Friends of the Manzano Mesa K Kids will deliver your orders sometime between Dec. 15 -19 (we will even load them in your car after our Holiday Party on Dec. 19.

For those who can't be at one of these meetings, please call Dave,  681-6325.

Wheels Museum President Leba Freed to Speak Nov. 21 - 10/28/2017

Presentation Title: Saving the Last Steam Locomotive Site in the USA and Creating The Wheels Museum, Inc.

Leba Freed is an Albuquerque native who has been involved in the preservation of the Historic Railyards for 20 years. She has degrees in education, art and English and ran her family business, Freed Company, for 25 years. She is on the Railyards Advisory Board and has been President of the Wheels Museum for 20 years. Leba is on the UNM Economic Development Board as well as several other organizations. She is married to Dr. Elliot Pierce and they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.

Presentation Title: Albuquerque in the Time of Tuberculosis

Mo Palmer is from Artesia, NM, and moved to Albuquerque in 1955. She holds a Masters’ of American Studies with a concentration in archival practices and local history. She was the ABQ Museum’s photo archivist, oral historian, documentary maker, exhibit curator, lecturer, and researcher from 1992 - 2002. Her newspaper columns ran in the Albuquerque Tribune and other publications until the present. She taught NM History at Sandia Preparatory School during which time she published two books. The NM Historical Society presented Palmer with he Dorothy Woodward Award...

2017 Charitable review committee final determination

1) New Mexico Museum of Natural History - $4500.00 (to be facilitated by Cirrelda Snyder-Bryan)  “Kiwanis Garden Discovery Hour for Preschool Children-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque. This program will be delivered directly to children, and will be advertised and promoted broadly by NM Museum of Natural History (newsletters and direct mailings to the public). Enhanced Kiwanis Signage for the garden is included in this grant. We can arrange to help with this program any time. Great for our members.

2) Locker 505 Student Clothing Bank - $2500.00 (Director Kim Kerschen)  On an annual basis Locker 505 spends at least...
